In a significant development, former football sensation Zlatan Ibrahimović, aged 42, has ventured into the financial realm, joining RedBird Capital Partners as an operating partner The private investment firm revealed on Monday that Ibrahimović would also serve as a senior advisor to AC Milan ownership and senior management.

The announcement comes on the heels of Ibrahimović’s retirement in June, marking the end of his illustrious career. The Swedish striker, renowned for his impactful stints with clubs like Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, and Los Angeles Galaxy, concluded his playing journey at Milan.

In his role as operating partner with RedBird, Ibrahimović is set to collaborate closely with the firm’s global investment team. His responsibilities will extend to supporting RedBird’s investment endeavors across the dynamic sectors of sports, media, and entertainment.

Expressing his gratitude for the new roles, Ibrahimovic conveyed, “I am extremely grateful to be joining both RedBird and AC Milan in these important and influential roles. I look forward to contributing to their investing activities across their sports, media, and entertainment properties.”

Within the AC Milan framework, Ibrahimović assumes the position of Senior Advisor to the club’s ownership, spearheaded by RedBird. This multifaceted role will see him actively engage in both sporting and business operations. Notably, Ibrahimović’s mandate encompasses player development initiatives and the strategic advancement of Milan’s global brand.

Sharing his sentiments on this opportunity, Ibrahimović stated, “My love for the Rossoneri will never die, and the opportunity to be a part of its future in a meaningful way is something I could only have dreamed of.”

Milan’s CEO, Giorgio Furlani, welcomed Ibrahimović’s return to the club, emphasizing the leadership qualities he brings.
